Study on early markers of death in patients with COVID-19
CONCLUSIONS: Underlying heart disease, lymphocyte count, glomerular filtration rate, lactate, oxygenation index, SOFA score, and MuLBSTA score were associated with the risk of death in severe and critical COVID-19 patients.PMID:37667958 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33436

Prognostic and predictive significance of GITR in metastatic renal cell carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with metastatic RCC, higher GITR was associated with better PFS. At the same time, in patients using nivolumab, better PFS was seen in the GITR high group. If supported by prospective studies, GITR can be used as both a prognostic and predictive marker.PMID:37667956 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33433

Implications of lifestyle changes on the incidence of childhood obesity - a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: An overall balanced diet, parental awareness pertaining to BMI and physical activity in children were the three major factors influencing a child's obesity levels. However, more studies are needed in this regard so as to ascertain a complete, holistic treatment plan that can further validate the implementation of our findings.PMID:37667948 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33424

Relationship between tooth type and material used in the construction of endocrowns and fracture force values: a systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: Mandibular EC molars showed the highest fracture forces, followed by maxillary premolars and molars. No differences among the EC materials in the 2- and 4-mm pulpal extension designs were found, which had higher fracture forces than other designs.PMID:37667944 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33420

New biograft solution, growth factors and bone regenerative approaches in neurosurgery, dentistry, and orthopedics: a review
Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci. 2023 Aug;27(16):7653-7664. doi: 10.26355/eurrev_202308_33419.ABSTRACTBone regeneration following surgery, trauma, or any other condition is an autologous process that can fail, necessitating the requirement of novel procedures and materials. Recently, significant progress has been made in the research related to regenerative medicine. At the same time, biomedical implants in spine surgery, orthopedics, and dentistry are facing many challenges and posing clinical concerns. A PubMed, MEDLINE, and Scopus review was carried out to identify all studies dealing with bone regenerative approaches in dent...

The clinical outcomes of intra-articular injection of human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells vs. bone marrow aspirate concentrate in cartilage regeneration: a systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: This systematic review presents evidence that compared with BMAC injection, intra-articular hUCB-MSCs can induce significantly better tissue repair at 1 year after surgery, as assessed by the ICRS grade. Although there is only short-term follow-up evidence and a lack of histochemical evidence, our systematic review supports the recommendation to use hUCB-MSCs as the source of pluripotent stem cells for treating ICRS III cartilage lesions.PMID:37667930 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33405
